If your business involves outside cleaning, drain clearing or laying tarmac, you may need to use our water hydrants. We run a standpipe hire and licensing scheme via Aquam Water Services for this purpose.
Aquam Water Services, based in Yeovil, will process all applications for hydrant use, together with the provision of hired metered standpipes within our area of supply. We only allow our standpipes to be used on our hydrants in order to safeguard our water supply.

All of our approved standpipes are fitted with an anti-pollution device to prevent back-flow and reduce the risk of contamination entering the public water supply.
Please note:
Unauthorised access to our hydrants and the use of standpipes sourced from outside of our approved supplier can create a potential risk to water quality, which could result in public health issues and could damage our infrastructure. It can also interfere with our operations or fire service activities.
It’s a criminal act to use a standpipe which is not hired from us and take water without permission from a non approved hydrant, which could lead to prosecution.
